If you are suffering from panic disorder, then you have two options:

Take a medication such as Klonopin or antidepressants

Try to treat the problem with home treatments or therapy

For people with severe panic disorder, medications are the preferred treatment route. And, amongst medications, Klonopin is a leader because it produces quick benefits but without the high risk of addiction that comes with other benzodiazepines. Antidepressants may also be effective in treatment but they take several weeks for benefits to be evident. Further, antidepressants are usually better for cases of mixed anxiety and depressive disorder, not panic disorder in which immediate relief of symptoms is needed.

All medications for panic disorder come with some side effects and risks though. Klonopin is especially known for causing hangover-like symptoms such as dizziness or impaired memory. In rare cases, it can cause serious problems and may lead to a drug addiction.

If panic disorder medicines are risky, then why are they so commonly prescribed?

All medicines must be studied for risks before they can be approved. While the approval process is complex, there is one basic underlying guideline which determines whether a medicine is approved or not: the benefits of the medicine must outweigh the risks. With Klonopin, the benefits are nearly immediate relief of symptoms so the patient can live a healthy life.

It is important to realize that untreated panic disorder can also cause severe problems. Untreated panic disorder often gets worse and develops into other mental health disorders like agoraphobia and clinical depression. These problems can lead to further problems and serious consequences like suicide. If you do not want to use Klonopin or antidepressants for panic disorder, then therapy such as CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) have been found effective.

Because panic disorder can deteriorate into much more severe conditions, most doctors will recommend that CBT be used along with a medicine like Klonopin. As the patient makes progress, then the medicine can be tapered off in a controlled environment.

What to Expect when taking Klonopin for Panic Disorder

If your doctor decides that Klonopin is the right treatment for your panic disorder, then you will likely experience relief of symptoms right away. Just because you don’t experience symptoms, it doesn’t mean that your panic disorder is cured. If you stop taking Klonopin, your symptoms could come back. That is why it is so important to undergo additional treatments while taking Klonopin, such as CBT.

Some of the methods used in CBT can be very emotionally stressful, such as exposure therapy in which the patient is systematically exposed to the situation which causes a panic attack. With Klonopin to alleviate symptoms, CBT becomes a much easier process. For short-term treatment of panic disorder, benzodiazepine drugs like Klonopin have shown most effective. But CBT has shown to be the most effective long-term treatment. In studies, the combination of these two treatments have shown to give the best short and long-term results even after treatment was discontinued.

In all clinical trials of Klonopin, researchers studied the drug’s potential for causing dependence and withdrawal symptoms. The studies all showed that Klonopin is safe for short-term use of about 6 to 9 weeks. The problem with drug studies is that they rarely last for long-term periods. It simply would not be practical to study a drug for years to determine the dependence risk – especially when millions of people need a medicine. Instead of making patients wait for conclusive, long-term studies, the drug companies got Klonopin approved for short-term treatment. Then, it is up to individual doctors to assess whether a patient should continue treatment with Klonopin.

There have been some long-term studies about Klonopin’s safety which show the medicine can be used for periods of up to 3 years without tolerance, dependence or withdrawal symptoms occurring. But these studies are mostly conducted on patients who have been prescribed the medicine by their doctors and are regularly monitored by their doctors. They don’t factor in the patients whose doctors told them to stop taking Klonopin after a short period of time.

Before patients begin taking a medicine like Klonopin, they must discuss the risks of dependence with their doctor. Further, they must be sure that they understand the signs that a drug dependency is forming, such as having cravings for Klonopin, the drug stops being effective, or they experience withdrawal symptoms between dosages. If any of these signs occur, then patients must inform their doctors immediately so the doctor can assess the right course of action.

Even if you are physically capable of taking Klonopin for years without developing a drug dependence, that doesn’t mean that you should. Klonopin should always be taken for the shortest necessary period and in the smallest possible dosage amount. A major problem with anti-anxiety medicines like Klonopin is that patients rely solely on them for treatment. Klonopin should NOT be your only treatment for panic disorder! If you have panic disorder, then you must also be undergoing other treatments, like cognitive behavioral therapy or psychotherapy, to help you overcome the disorder.

Unfortunately, too many patients only take Klonopin and don’t get the additional treatment that their doctors prescribe, like therapy. For many people, therapy simply isn’t an option because of its high costs and time demands. But, without this treatment, it is unlikely that you will ever be fully in control of your anxiety and be able to cope without Klonopin.

Klonopin is part of benzodiazepine family of drugs which is prescribed for managing seizures and treating anxiety attacks. It can also be used to treat other conditions apart from those two like Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. The generic name of this drug is Clonazepam.

This drug can be bought freely, though it is recommended to consult with your doctor before that. It’s better that your doctor prescribes you a correct dose after assessing your problem. The usual dose of this medication is 1.5 milligrams three times per day, every eight hours. This dosage can be increased after three days by 0.5mg to 1mg. The maximum allowed dose is 20 mg.

Klonopin should not be given to pregnant women as some studies have shown it to be dangerous to the fetus. Women that are currently breast feeding should also avoid this medication as well as people who operate machinery. It is also not recommended to drive while taking it. Taking alcohol, barbiturates, narcotics or tobacco is highly unrecommended as combining Klonopin with these can make side effects worse. There are some medications that should not be taken together with Klonopin so consult your doctor to know which are these. Also consult with your doctor about any allergic reactions that can be caused by this drug. This medication should be kept in a cool and darkened area away from children’s reach.

Like many other drugs of this type, Klonopin has several side effects. Some of them can be very dangerous, so seek immediate medical help if you start experiencing them. Some more common side effects you may experience while taking this drug are weakness, fatigue, dizziness and headache. These side effect should be only temporary. If you continue to experience them for a long time after you initially started using Klonopin, seek the advise of your doctor on further course of treatment and if you should continue to use Klonopin.

This medication is not recommended for prolonged usage as the patient can become dependable on it. The usual time that is recommended is about three months. If you have been using Klonopin for a longer period don’t try to discontinue its use at once. Instead, your doctor can instruct you how to slowly stop taking the drug.

It is highly recommended to closely follow the instructions of your doctor while taking Klonopin. This is especially true for the dosage prescribed. If the dosage is inadequate it can easily be increased or decreased later per doctors instructions. If you forgot to take a dose or were prevented for some other reason take that dose as soon as you can and than continue taking it at regular interval. Do not take double doses as too much Klonopin in your blood can cause some side effects to occur more often. Also, don’t attempt to discontinue taking it at once. If you believe that you no longer need to use this drug, consult with your doctor to gradually decrease the dosage before you stop taking it completely.

Benzodiazepines aim to slow down central nervous system. The usual dosage of this drug prescribed by doctors is 1.5 milligrams per dose three times a day for every eight hours. The dosage can be increased after the first three days by half milligram to one milligram up to a maximum of 20 milligrams. The dosage should not be increased without the consent of a doctor.

Klonopin’s more common name is Clonazepam. This particular drug is widely prescribed by psychiatrist to treat various panic and convulsive disorders. Although it can be bought it is not recommended to start taking Klonopin without consulting with your doctor as its usage often needs to be closely monitored. This is mostly because this drug can cause a number of different side effects that can potentially be very dangerous.

The dosage you need is prescribed by your doctor. Do not change it on your own. If you believe that the dosage is infective or that the drug itself is harmful to you, consult with the doctor for a new dosage or a complete discontinuation of this drug. Also, if you forgot or for some other reason couldn’t take the dose you should take it as soon as you can. Just don’t try to stop using Klonopin at once. This needs to be done by gradually decreasing your dosage under your doctor supervision.

It is not recommended for pregnant women to take Klonopin since it can be dangerous to the fetus. Also, since it can mix with the milk it is not advised to take this drug while breast feeding. People who operate machinery are not advised to take Klonopin. Also, don’t drive a motor vehicle while taking Klonopin since it can cause dizziness.

The recommended time for using Klonopin is usually three months. Discontinuation of Klonopin after a longer period of taking can cause muscle cramps, tremors, vomiting and seizures. Also, do not use this drug in combination with barbiturates, alcohol, tobacco since they can make side effects even worse and consult with your doctor if you are already taking other medications. And, if you are experiencing breathing problems, suffer form depression or have liver or kidney problems consult your physician before you start taking Klonopin.

Klonopin has several side effects that have to be taken seriously. Some more common side effects include fatigue, nausea, dizziness and drowsiness. More dangerous side effects are difficult swallowing, tremors, difficult breathing, fever, severe skin rash seizures and irregular heartbeat. Also, if you start to experience side effects such as hallucinations, shallow breathing, agitation you should seek immediate medical help.

Klonopin or Clonazepam is usually prescribed for treating various bipolar disorders like anxiety and panic attacks. It can also be used to treat convulsions and certain seizures like akinetic seizures, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. This drug can be prescribed alone or in combination with other drugs. Consult with your doctors about these drugs as well as any potential allergic reaction before you start taking it.

Klonopin belongs to the group of benzodiazepine drugs used to treat anxiety attacks and different bipolar disorders. Also, it can be use to treat epilepsy, hyperplexia, bruxism, parasomnia, anti psychotics and other disorders. The common name for Klonopin is Clonazepam.

It is a drug whose taking should be closely medically monitored. The main reason for this is because Klonopin include a number of side effects. Some of these side effects can be more dangerous than the others and different people will feel different side effects. These side effects can vary from rare to common, occasional, long term to withdrawal side effects. This is a big reason why Klonopin should not be taking without a written prescription by a psychiatrist.

Some more common side effects that can manifest during the use of Klonopin are nervousness, irritation and trouble in speaking. Less commonly, side effects that can occur while taking this drug are cramps and increased heartbeat. A clear sign that the drug has started to react is confusion. This can be confusion of time, confusion of place and inability to recognize people.

A person taking Klonopin may experience weakness, staggering, convulsion, trembling and hallucinations. Someone taking this drug could also suffer from nausea, sensitivity of eyes or depression. Another side effect that can manifest it self is heightened sensation of pain.

Some other more hostile side effects when taking Klonopin can be memory weakening and loss, high fever, mouth ulcer, sore throat shortly after intaking of this drug, pale skin, yellow eyes, irregular sleep or trouble controlling body movement.

Less often Klonopin causes side effects like dizziness, demotivation, aggression, losing short term memory, hallucinations and some others. Most often side effects associated with the usage of this drug are euphoria and drowsiness. Sometimes taking Klonopin can cause some psychiatric side-effects like confusion or personality changes. More rarely side effects of using this medication include rage, liver damage, high excitement, even worse seizures. One of the more unfortunate side effects of using Klonopin for a longer time period is sex dysfunction. A person who is trying to stop using Klonopin can often experience panic attacks, anxiety or trouble to sleep.

If misused or abused Klonopin can cause different side effects. For worse cases of disorders it is highly recommended that the usage of this drug is closely monitored in a medical environment so that the doctors could react as quickly as possible if a more dangerous side effect appears and also, to better monitor the effectiveness of the dosage prescribed.

This drug should only be bought with a written prescription from your psychiatrist and sold under medical supervision. The dosage prescribed by a doctor should not be changed under the patients own volition but only after closely determining its current effectiveness.

If, while taking Klonopin you experience some of the side effects mentioned in this text, it is advisable to immediately consult with your doctor to determine the further course of your treatment and whether you should decrease the dosage or completely stop using Klonopin.

A lot of people today live very stressful lives. They have to deal with stress at home, at work and between home and work and normally all this stress can eventually lead to anxiety disorders. If these disorders are not treated in time, in the end they lead to depression. Different symptoms which can be perpetual, emotional or mental can appear during anxiety attacks. Panic attack is just a different name for an anxiety attack. Fortunately, these types of attacks can be successfully treated with various medications and Klonopin is one of the more effective ones.

Klonopin is a part of benzodiazepine family of drugs used to treat panic attacks and anxiety disorder. Its generic name is Clonazepam. Apart from anxiety and panic attacks, Klonopin is also used with great success in treating different forms of seizures like myoclonus, petit mal and akinetic seizures as well as some syndromes such as the Lennox Gastaut syndrome.

For curing seizures one usually has to take three doses of 1.5 milligrams of Klonopin per day. This is normally every eight or so hours. During the first three days it is not recommended to increase to dosage. After three days, the dosage of Klonopin can be raised by 0.5 milligrams up to 1 milligram of this drug. The maximum recommended dosage of Klonopin is 20 milligrams.

This drug is not recommended for prolonged use as it can be very addictive. Klonopin is used solely for short time treatment of panic and anxiety attacks. If you are suffering from these attacks you should work out a longer term treatment with your doctor which includes more natural medicine.

It is not recommended to prescribe Klonopin to pregnant women because it can be harmful to them and to the fetus or to women that are breast feeding since it can interfere with breast milk and this can be very dangerous to the child. It is also not advised to drive a motor vehicle while taking this drug as it often causes dizziness. Never use Klonopin in combination with barbiturates, narcotics or alcohol.

Like any other drug Klonopin can include several side effects some of them more dangerous than others. These side effects include sleep disturbance, dizziness, headache losing orientation, weakness, fatigue, sedation, and other side effects.

Different people suffer from different panic attacks. The reasons for these attacks can vary greatly from one person to the other. For this reason what works for someone you know at best may not work for you, or in a worse case scenario, can be very dangerous for you. Because of this you need to carefully consult with your physician about your problem. Your physician will asses your situation and refer you to the psychologist if your problem is more of a mental than health nature. After the physiologist closely determines your mental condition, usually after three or four talk sessions, if he believes it to be necessary, will write you a prescription for Klonopin for a certain dosage.

It aims primarily to give you advice when you start taking this medication. It is not an expert text but one written in layman’s words for other laymen.

Klonopin aims to relax the body and brain. It is used to stabilize you in case you are having panic attacks. It comes mostly in a form of tablet. Usually the dosage prescribed is three tablets per day, most often every eight hours. It takes longer for Klonopin to start having effect than some other drugs, but once it starts to work it is very effective in treating panic attacks. Also, it can be less addictive than some other drugs of this type, like Xanax, which can be quite difficult to stop using.

This drug belongs to a group of medications known as benzodiazepines and is used to treat chemical disorder in brain that can cause seizures or panic attacks. It can also be used in treating twitching, Parkinson’s disease or schizophrenia and even pain management.

You should consult with your doctor before starting to use this drug. Your physician needs to particularly needs to be sure that you are not allergic to anything that Klonopin contains or to any drugs you have taken prior to Klonopin like Xanax, Valium or Ativane. Also, this particular medication should not be used in combination with vitamins, herbal remedies and of course alcohol, but the last one goes without saying.

The more common side effects of Klonopin include dry mouth, nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, weakness, dizziness and changes in appetite. Klonopin also has several side effects that have to be taken very seriously. These can include seizures, difficult swallowing, tremors, irregular heartbeat, difficult breathing, fever, severe skin rash and others. If you start to experience any of these symptoms seek immediate medical aid and stop taking Klonopin at once. Also it is not recommended to use Klonopin if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Because Klonopin can cause dizziness it is not advised to drive a motor vehicle while taking this medication.

Consider all options and consult with your doctor before you start taking Klonopin. This drug has many positive and negative sides that needs to be carefully considered. Use this medication only if your physician prescribes it to you and in the dosage he thinks is necessary. Later, you can easily consult with your physician to increase the dosage if it is not taking effect fast enough, decrease if it you are getting better or stop using it when you have to switch to another medication because of the side effects no longer need it or need to gradually stop using it because you no longer experience your problem and don’t need Klonopin any more. Of course, this should not be done without consulting with your physician prior to that decision as he is the expert in this area and not you.

Those who suffer from it usually goes from a period of mania and high energy at one moment to a period of severe depression the next moment. Heavier bipolar disorders can be difficult to treat and also expensive. Many bipolar disorder drug cost 15euros per pill and have to be taken on a daily basis because they have to treat both manic episodes and high depression at the same time.

Bipolar disorder is treated whit a combination of different anti-anxiety, antidepressant and mood stabilizers. The most commonly drug that is prescribed to someone who is diagnosed with this disorder is usually Lithium. It is used over a longer period of time to control manic behavior. Lithium can also be used in combination with anti-psychotic drugs. Watch out when using Lithium as it can be toxic in larger quantities. Ask your doctor to prescribe something else if you stop feeling well when using this drug. Instead of Lithium other drugs like Carbamazepine, Valproate and Divalproex Sodium among others are most often prescribed to patients who suffer from bipolar disorder. The last one of these is not recommended to women as it is known to increases their testosterone levels.

Another type of drugs used to treat bipolar disorder are anticonvulsants. Bipolar disorder often include seizures and convulsions so these drugs are widely prescribed as a part of bipolar disorder treatment. One of them, Lamictal has proven very effective in decreasing the number of episodes bipolar disorder can occur. For this reason it is very often used for longer period treatment of this disorder.

Psychotic behavior is usually treated with some of the anti-psychotic medications like Laloperidole. Drugs used to treat schizophrenia such as Kisperdal and Zylexa can too be prescribed to treat manic behavior episodes caused by bipolar disorder.

The usually prescribed antidepressant drugs are Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) and Tricyclic antidepressants (TSAs ). Benzodiazepines like Valium and Klonopin are prescribed for short term treatment. Be careful with these as they can be highly addictive. They need to be closely monitored to prevent this.

Treating bipolar disorder can take a lot of time and effort. Also, since it is often needed to treat several different symptoms different drugs can be prescribed at the same time and some of them can be very expensive, not to mention that many of them can have serious side effects. Using these medications on your own hand can be dangerous. You never know what side effect can manifest it self so they need to be monitored. Use only those drugs prescribed by a doctor and in the amount he or she tells you. It’s relatively easy to increase or decrease the dosage after consulting with the doctor. Today, more effective drugs with less side effects are being tested and sent to experimental stage every day.

There you have it, this short article was written with the idea to give you a short overview on various behavioral disorder drugs. I hope it was at least mildly helpful.

Today, we live in a very stressful world. The world economic crisis has heavily hit a lot of countries and the first to suffer the consequences are usually common workers. Not to mention everyday problems that could make anyone anxious like an important exam, tight schedule for some project or things like divorce.

People deal with anxiety problem and panic attacks differently. Some simply try to ignore the problem, but this quickly turns out to be a big mistake because, not only had they not dealt with it but it also caused more problems in their lives. Other people try meditating or listening to soothing music to calm their nerves. Many people prefer to talk to someone about their problems. Sometimes, all you have to do is to talk with a friend, family member, or if you are religious, your priest, rabbi or some other religious representative. In the end, after they have exhausted other options, most people decide to visit a psychologist or a psychiatrist to help them treat this problem.

Anyone who experienced a panic attack more then a few times knows just too well how problematic they can be if they are not treated. Often all that is needed is to simply talk to an expert to figure out your problem. The doctor will usually try with talk sessions, to determine the root of your problem. If he believes that you need to go to treatment and to take medications you should listen to his advice since he is the expert in this field.

You shouldn’t take most medications without talking to your doctor first. It’s the same with drugs for anxiety and panic attacks. What works for someone you know might not work for you. Or in a worse case scenario it could have serious side effect that does not manifest themselves on him or her but do on you. For this reason, it is very important to consult your doctor about your problem. If the doctor doesn’t think that you need to take any medications, so much the better. But if he decides to write you a prescription for something than you should follow the doctors instructions to the letter. Later, after the drug proves it self effective you can decrease the dosage. Or if it is working for you consult your doctor about a higher dosage or a completely different drug to treat anxiety and panic attacks.

Medications for panic attacks can have various purposes. One type can treat these attacks, other reduce their numbers, third can be effective in controlling the symptoms of panic attacks, while another is best used in prevention of panic attacks.

There are several groups of panic and anxiety attack medications. Serotonin re-uptake inhibitors like Prozac are antidepressants but can be used to treat panic attacks. Benzodiazepines such as Klonopine and Valium are often given to patients suffering from panic attacks and unlike SSRIs don’t need to be taken every day. TSAs or tricyclic antidepressants which include Norpramin and Tophranil have more serious side effects than SSRIs and are rarely prescribed.

Panic attacks and anxiety attacks, if persistent, can be a big problem to whoever is experiencing them. Usually, those that suffer from these attacks are rapidly, if not already, losing all hope of a normal life. If you, or anyone you know are often experiencing panic or anxiety attacks then you should take comfort in the fact that there are various medications that have proven themselves in dealing with these symptoms. These drugs are very effective in both preventing panic attacks as well as reducing them. Remember that these medications are only there to help you deal with your problem not to erase it for you.

The main three groups of these medications are called: antidepressants, serotonin reuptake inhibitors (or SSRIs) and benzodiazepines. The most often used benzodiazepines to treat panic and anxiety attacks are Alprazolam or Xanax and Klonopin, which is also known as Klonopin, Valium (Diazepam) and finally Ativan or Lorazepam.

With some antidepressants like Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors there can be serious problems connected with diet and drug interactions. For this reason you are better of with something more commonly used like Norpramin or Tofranil.

Serotonin reuptake inhibitors are somewhat new medications used to treat anxiety and panic attacks. They have proven very effective in treating these problems and since they tend to have fewer health related side effects then most other drugs are widely prescribed by doctors. Over 70% of people who used them claimed that SSRIs were a great help in treating panic attacks. The most widely known SSRI is Prozac.

Luckily, I never had a big problem with panic or anxiety attacks. Like most former college students I know all too well about pre-exam exam anxiety and later, when I started working, I had an occasional tight schedule that would make me a little panicky and anxious before I finished it but that goes for anyone,It was nothing that my doctor felt that needed to be treated with medications and I tend to believe him as he is the expert, not me. I do visit a psychologist from time to time for a little talk, but that is it

My good friend isn’t that lucky. He often had to deal with serious anxiety issues and panic attacks and after a potentially dangerous attack he finally decided to visit a psychiatrist. After a few sessions she decided to write him a prescription for Klonopin. She could prescribe something like Xanax which is somewhat faster to start working but it is probably good that she didn’t. Xanax is known to be addictive and can cause serious problems if one decides to stop using it too quickly. Klonopine is a little slower than this but can be easier to quit. Plus it can provide relief longer and he needed fewer doses than he would need with Xanax, My friend claims that Klonopin was of great help to him in dealing with his panic problem and I have no reason not to believe his word on this.
